Our poor ladies are having quite the struggle. The heatwave was too much and now they are molting. We have decided to scale back our egg deliveries. We hope within a few weeks we will be back in the egg business.

Here are some changes we are going to make.

• Chris is building a new nest house, it is sooooo cute!
• Switching to bag feed over our homemade mix
• Removing all roosters from the field
• Setting up breeding houses (this is to improve our flock for next year and I plan on added some heavy laying breeds)
• New houses in the field. Probably built on our two old trailers. They will be traiend to the houses and get to free range.
• Electrolytes all the time

They already get oyster shell and DE in their feed and we moved out the pigs. The pigs were getting into their food and knocking over the water...

I am feeling optimistic. We may not be right where we want to be this year but next year will be great! I have learned so much about keeping chickens and egg production. It wasn't a smooth journey but is a job I really like!
