A solstice is an event in which a planet's poles are most extremely inclined toward or away from the star it orbits. On our planet, we defined solstices by solar declination—the latitude of the Earth where the sun is directly overhead at noon.

The Summer Solstice is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year.
I am so excited it is FINALLY summer!!! It has been a very wet and cold spring. I needed some dry and warm, so did the garden.
Today I fully plan to enjoy the many hours of light. I may even put some flowers in my hair.
Even though it has been cold, I have been making "Margarita" Popsicles.
