Harrison Apple Scionwood

Harrison apple scionwood comes from healthy, mature trees growing in our Oregon Coast orchard. We cut each stick during full dormancy to protect bud viability and ensure strong grafting success. Every 12 inch stick contains multiple viable buds and is carefully selected from true to type trees.

Harrison apple scionwood works well for bench grafting onto rootstock or for top working established apple trees. Growers often choose this variety when planting a cider focused orchard.

A Historic American Cider Apple

Harrison is one of the most respected early American cider apples. Cider makers value it for its balanced tannins, strong sugar content, and deep fermentation character. The juice produces structured, aromatic cider with excellent body.

This variety nearly disappeared before dedicated growers preserved it. Today, it remains a cornerstone apple for traditional cider production.

Growing Characteristics

Harrison performs reliably in cool climates with proper sunlight and airflow. Prune regularly to maintain structure and improve fruit quality. With good orchard management, trees produce consistent crops suitable for pressing and blending.

Grafting and Shipping

Each stick of Harrison apple scionwood ships while dormant to maintain freshness and vigor. The wood works well for whip and tongue grafting, cleft grafting, and bark grafting. We label every stick clearly before shipping.
